An active area of low pressure brought unsettled weather to the central and northern parts of the South China Sea today. Locally, there were sunny periods and a few showers. More than 20 millimetres of rain were recorded in Sha Tin and Tai Po. The area of low pressure is expected to bring showers to the south China coastal areas in the next couple of days. At 11 p.m. Typhoon Ewiniar was centred about 1440 kilometres south-southeast of Okinawa. It is forecast to move north-northwest at about 13 kilometres per hour across the seas east of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Tuesday, 4 Jul 2006)

Mainly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated squally thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 27 and 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, occasionally strong over offshore waters at first.

Outlook : Sunny periods with a few showers in the following few days.
